I installed it on my 2007 BMW X5. I used an "add circuit" through the fuse box. Luckily, in this car, the fuse box is behind the passenger. There is an amplifier for the stereo system on the driver's side and a fuse box on the passenger side. Getting out of the trunk is very easy. Spent about 20 minutes trying to figure out the correct location on the fuse box for the DC power and switched power. As for the ground, I loosened the nut that was clearly the ground for some other components and lowered the negative wire there. I checked all my contact points in each phase with a multimeter. Even after completing the connections, I checked the connector that connects to the device with a multimeter. Everything turned out fine. I went ahead and connected the device and plugged it into the open panel. Of course I want it to be hidden, which was easy to do behind the fuse box panel. The instructions say the device has an LED to indicate if something is working. There was no light in this mini-block. I went ahead and registered my account online. It says it will take about an hour for the device to connect to the network and for you to receive an email. An hour has passed and I still haven't received the email. I checked online and nothing. I was starting to think maybe I had done a bad job with the cable. But shortly after, I noticed on the internet that my car was parked in front of my house. All is well. I went ahead and ran some errands and the tracking was great online. The only downside I see is that the website seems a bit broken. I can't rename my division more kindly. Instead, it simply appears as the device's serial number. I only have one so it doesn't matter; but it would be nice to switch to a more descriptive name. Eventually I might get another one for another machine, so that would be very helpful. The stats, history and stuff just didn't want to appear on the site. But everything is fine in the iPhone app. It may be that my device has to be online for 24 hours before everything works. I'll check tomorrow and maybe call tech support to troubleshoot the site. But with all that, this device works well. And it's a really good price. Anyone familiar with automotive electrical systems can easily install it.
