I use it more like a podcast stand because it elevates my phone so the speakers aren't muffled. I also use it when I'm using Skype or on the phone with family or friends and need to keep the phone at eye level with my face while cooking or doing other things. It's light enough to be carried around and placed wherever you land. I also use it as a stand to make hands-free calls at my desk when I don't have headphones. . It feels like having a steadicam. I like his tripod. It's great for group shots with friends and you don't have to ask anyone to take a picture for you. I was recently in New York for the first time. It was great to be able to take photos and not have to ask anyone to take them for me. Again, having a built in tripod was great and one of the reasons I bought it. The price is fantastic compared to the quality of what you get. One downside: not very compact compared to other selfie sticks I've used, but really enjoyed using it. Hope that helps.
