Review on Safety 1st Quick Read Forehead Thermometer: Fast and Reliable Temperature Measurement by Jason Whitaker

NOTE: I did not purchase this item from Revain. I bought it from Target but I'm so disappointed in this product that I'm determined to let everyone know how bad it is. Manufacturers should be ashamed. Our baby is on fire right now and we can't get an accurate reading. ONCE it read over 101 degrees but now we can't get it over 97. When I try to read my temperature I can't get it over 90 degrees. It's scary that reading 30 between my wife and I can't get above 90, but our sons are consistently at a good 98. Other problems are: 1) It beeps very loudly. There is no sleep mode, and the sound signal wakes the child, and if he is already awake, there is no way to "steal" the temperature. As soon as he beeps, the child pulls away from him and starts screaming. We even tried taking the temperature in the dark, which is pointless because you can't tell the exact 1/2 inch distance, but the beep lets the kid get even further away as the beep is even scarier in the dark. 2) There is no light. Even if there were a "silent mode" (which doesn't exist), there was no telling when to pull out the thermometer. There should be an indicator light that is red when it starts and green when it ends. 3) No LED backlight. If you happen to need to take a reading in the dark while they're sleeping, you won't be able to see the temperature and will have to run to another room, hopefully before the LED screen goes out. If you're lucky enough to get a reading, it will most likely show around 77 degrees or whatever your air conditioner is set to. In short, this thermometer is terrible for all ages. According to this thermometer, I'm dead and cooling down fast.
