In traditional color wheels there is only one tertiary color between a primary color like yellow and a secondary color like orange: yellow-orange. But there are two tertiary colors listed in this circle: yellow-orange (yellowish-orange, i.e. more orange than yellow) and orange-yellow (orange-yellow, i.e. more yellow than orange). Interesting! Also, this color wheel shows hues (color with varying amounts of white) on one side and hues (color plus gray) and hues (color plus black) on the other side. There is nothing new here, but what is new is the number of values displayed (light and dark values): 7 shades on one side, 7 tones/shades on the other side. Very good. I'd like to see a color wheel that actually lists the colors of the tube (e.g. azure, cadmium red medium, etc.). And I'd like to see a color wheel that shows the tones made by mixing a color with its complement rather than gray. But I do think this color wheel is very pretty and I love the wider range of hues and tones it displays.
