Terrible programming and poor reception

On paper this radio sounds like it's about to flip back. Instead, Uniden has changed every naming convention over the past 60 years of radio use, doing away with channels, frequencies, and favorites, replacing them with departments, systems, and channels (not necessarily in that order). The guide is full of shortcuts and multiple steps to program the radio. Even following the instructions does not guarantee the displayed result. I can program computers and my ham radios, I thought I could. Worse, the reception is bad. Sitting on a table next to an HT ham radio, both with standard antennas, the HT picked up fire calls that this scanner never picked up and even scanned those programmed frequencies. This radio was a disappointing waste of money. It doesn't do anything to improve my travel experience and between the frustration of trying to program it and the high cost of this fancy radio that doesn't get the job done, I'm very unhappy. Uniden needs to go back to the drawing board and start building user-friendly hardware again. I do NOT recommend this scanner.
