Our Whirlpool Cabrio dryer stopped working. The power would turn on, but when you hit start it would stay on "sensing”, but the barrel wouldn’t turn and it wouldn’t heat. Yet, the timer would count down. I spent $90 to have a technician diagnose what was wrong. My dryer showed an F1 error, which we knew from Dr. Google we may have to replace our control board, and that’s exactly what the technician told us after not even spending 15 minutes in my house. We bought the new control board ($170) and replacing it was easy, but it did not solve the problem. My husband and I were fuming. We do more research and decide maybe we should replace the thermal fuse (something the technician should have considered on his initial trip). It was our last step we would try before calling it quits and just buying a new dryer, it’s a measly $6, it was worth a shot. It took less than 10 minutes to replace the thermal fuse and IT FIXED OUR DRYER!
