Obviously having full access to 30A is better and this is often needed when camping. However, I don't have a 30A outlet at home, but I would like to use AC power to pre-cool the fridge, keep the battery charged, and/or use the interior lights. This dogbone adapter allows me to do all of this without using a heavy 30A cable as the initial connection. What drew me to this adapter is that the cable can safely handle 20A. I have a 20A GFCI outlet and a 20A extension cord in my house. 20A is more than enough to get me ready for my next hike.
