They really put a lot of effort into developing this product. The chair does not open during transport because it is held in place with Velcro. The backpack is attached to the chair - 4 attachment points, all adjustable, if necessary the backpack can be detached from the chair. When the chair is open, the backpack is on the side (not under the chair) and I can easily access the contents without getting up from the chair and without detaching the backpack from the chair. There is a good support strap that keeps the chair's cold metal from pressing against the backrest. Everything adjusts and stays adjusted (no slipping straps). Quality stitching, double/triple stitching on the shoulder straps for durability. Very easy! All this with a chair weighs half my Wild River backpack (slightly more). The size of the backpack is excellent - not too big but very roomy. Can hold tackle boxes, snacks. I'd like more compartments in the middle, but it's designed as a cool box and insulated (very handy in the summer) - the contents don't heat up in the sun. The chair itself is great! It's slightly taller (mine is 6.5, 220 pounds) compared to similar products I've tried, but adding a few inches of height really adds to the comfort (no more crunching). It is very important - the legs are solid and part of the frame (and not separate pointed sticks) - the chair does not sink into soft ground due to the larger support surface (it is comfortable for me to sit on the bank). Very happy so far - I think it's worth the price I paid
