Review on 🔨 Bosch CSG15 Concrete Surfacing Grinder: Top-notch Performance and Precision by David Bowens

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great tool that works as advertised when used correctly

I recommend this tool because it is a good sander and good dust pick up when used properly. Tool. Usage To maximize the GSC15's ability to collect dust, here's what I did: Get in a comfortable position Get in a comfortable position that allows you to easily control the tool while remaining relaxed. I used a 5 gallon bucket by turning it upside down. I put a large folded towel on top of the bucket. Then I put my chest on it. In this position, I didn't need any muscular effort to crunch for a long time. Use knee pads to protect your knees. Protect yourself and your home from concrete dust. Being a beginner, here's what I did to protect myself and my home from beginner mistakes. I sealed the HLK return registers. I turned off the air conditioner and fan in my house. I attached plastic sheeting to all surfaces of the rooms I was going to sand. I wore a full face mask. When installing the dust collector, I used an "OSHA compliant kit with HEPA level filtration and cyclonic dust bags for select 12-16 gallon wet/dry vacuums" on my hard vacuum. It worked great. Close connects the CSG15 to the dust collector. I couldn't find a resource that clearly states which adapter connects the CSG15 to a regular wet/dry vacuum. The Home Depot, Revain, and Bosch product pages all mention specific sizes, rather than explicitly saying something like Saying "GSG15 can be connected to a hard vacuum with an XYZ adapter". Instead, each page mentions specific measurements without condescendingly noting where those measurements are taken (ID or OD). I managed to get something down : One of the adapters in this kit seemed to work: https://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGID-Hose-and-Accessory-Adapter-Kit-for-RIDGID-Wet-Dry-Shop-Vacuum Cleaner-VT1755/202077239 .e in 2-1/2" to 1-7/8" adapter is at least the right size. Unfortunately, it doesn't snap to Bosch. I used aluminum foil tape to seal the joint: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Nashua-Tape-1-89-in-x-50-yd-322-Multi-Purpose-HVAC-Foil-Tape- 1541239/100030120 When using the GSC15, good dust removal is easy to achieve: 1. Connect the tool to the dust box1. Get into a comfortable position. See above.2. Turn it on (with the slide switch) by latching it in the on position. See page 10 of Operating and Safety Instructions.3. Now that the wheel is spinning, place it on the concrete. Hold it with both hands and move it back and forth while keeping it horizontal. For my application, I found the CGS15 needed almost no downforce; I just gently moved it back and forth. For harder and/or rougher concrete, you may need to press harder. If you're grinding a lot of concrete, take a break from time to time to make sure the cyclone dust bag in your wet/dry vacuum isn't full. When this bag is full, you'll know almost immediately because dust pickup suddenly deteriorates. Using the GSC15 near Wall Edges To maximize dust removal when sanding wall edges, do the following: 1. Turn off the CGS15. Push the safety hood lock forward, engage the movable part of the safety hood. See page 10 of Operating and Safety Instructions.2. Turn on CGS15. Place the (now exposed part of the protective cover) on the edge of the wall. In other words, don't start far from the wall. Instead, lower the CGS15 grinding wheel onto the concrete near the edge of the wall.3. At the edge of the wall, move the GCS15 to the right. I found that dust removal stayed very good as long as I kept moving from left to right. If I moved in the opposite direction, more dust would be thrown out. Summary A great tool that works as advertised when used correctly.
