Handles are not hard like all other scissors I've used, expensive, dollar, kids, fabric. When I'm having a little trouble, I like to squeeze the grips with my non-dominant hand, and they just squeeze the rubber grip into your hand. Better than nothing but a waste of money/time/effort.
