Review on Carter M70319 Mechanical Fuel Pump by Brian Elliott

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Do not buy! Poor tech inside.

This item is a damn bad design that cannot be repaired by normal mechanics. Unwrapped and gas poured into the item and worked on it by hand to see if it would pump to no avail. The old pump pumped by hand. Still installed and not working. I disassembled the pump, which it is not designed for due to the corrugated iron housing. Upon examination, the internal one-way rubber valves were deformed and did not provide a proper fit. Fluid flows freely through the device, preventing it from building up the necessary pressure to actually pump. Do not buy. And returning it requires you to take it to Kohl's to ship it back, which is inconvenient after there's gas inside and fumes in the packaging. But I took it apart by bending the crimp, so I guess I'll have to calculate my losses and hope it helps someone else.

Pros
  • RUGGED AND ROBUST DESIGN: The ruggedly built Carter mechanical fuel system keeps fuel pressure under control, effectively locking and protecting fuel heat transfer.
Cons
  • Annoying
