I was quite skeptical after buying various types of battery washers that flew through the batteries like they were free, but so far I've had this lamp for about 5 hours every night used . night (it has a very handy timer on a handy remote control) and I still use the original batteries. The light has 3 levels of brightness and I use it on the brightest level and it really adds a nice glow to the large image I have over the entertainment center. Did I mention the handy remote control? It works really well, giving you options for light levels and timer settings, and seems to work from anywhere in the room. I highly recommend!
