I would say the size chart is not very accurate or they need more sizes. I'm a woman and I wear size 8-8 1/2 shoes. According to the scheme I ordered Wednesday. They are so big. The heel grabs my ankle. Since it's a liner, they really should be pretty tight. This size is too loose and likely to cause blisters. I plan to try a small one. I see that a medium size might suit those at the top of the size range. Depending on which chart you look at, it's a 9 or 10 for women's shoes. If you're on the lower end of the size range, consider ordering one size down as these are socks that stretch. Since I haven't been able to hike with them, I can't say if I like them. They are very thin and are ideal as a lining for woolen socks in winter.
