Three pairs or more

Glad I did a little research before a very long hike. I bought two pairs of these shoes after reading a blog post about the importance of wearing insoles when hiking. I put them on under wool socks and after 14 miles my feet felt BIG (and that comes from someone with a lot of foot problems). Not a single blister and my feet aren't really sweaty! I ended up buying my third pair for an upcoming longer hike. The only SMALL annoyance is that I have to hand wash them to keep them from stretching…

Worn them twice; threw them in the trash.

Pointless. They just don't absorb moisture, which is why I bought them. I had liner socks that looked just like this years ago and they were a miracle - when I wore them on a hike my feet were dry to the bone and my cotton top socks were soaked with sweat. These didn't even come close. I tried them twice but my foot was just as wet and sweaty as the outer sock when I took them off at the end of the day. They fit well on the foot but the top band was so tight I had to roll it up to my ankle and…

130 miles in 12 days with them.

I bought two pairs of these socks for my 16 year old son to use at Philmont Scout Ranch this summer. He normally only wears socks on most of his BSA hikes, but since he covers quite a distance in a short amount of time we wanted him to wear liners as well. This helped him walk over 130 miles in a total of 12 days without a single problem with his foot. For regular use he wears Fox River polypropylene mid-calf hiking socks (which work well on their own) and wore these liners underneath for extra

Size corresponds to the top end of the size chart

I would say the size chart is not very accurate or they need more sizes. I'm a woman and I wear size 8-8 1/2 shoes. According to the scheme I ordered Wednesday. They are so big. The heel grabs my ankle. Since it's a liner, they really should be pretty tight. This size is too loose and likely to cause blisters. I plan to try a small one. I see that a medium size might suit those at the top of the size range. Depending on which chart you look at, it's a 9 or 10 for women's shoes. If you're on the

The Perfect Wool Companion

A lot of the negative comments seem to come from people who have just used them as socks and don't know how to put them on properly while hiking. These liners are designed to be worn under a pair of wool socks, preferably Merino wool. They form a barrier between your skin and the wool material, which helps to significantly reduce friction and sweat on your feet, preventing blisters or hot spots. These insoles must be thin or your foot will not fit in your preferred shoe paired with a suitable…

Make sure you know what you are buying and how to wear them.

.then you will not be disappointed. I was surprised to read some of the negative reviews. Some people expect these socks to keep their feet warm in sub-zero temperatures. For real? Others think that this sock magically protects their feet from sweat. The? In addition, there are those who complain that the sock lacks cushioning. Serious!? I've worn liners on hikes and backpacking trips for decades. I've tried every brand available and they all work pretty much as intended. Lightweight lined…
