That worked great for us! My dog is very shy and frightens at every noise he hears outside. She started barking every time she heard something. We live in an apartment and I knew the neighbors wouldn't be able to stand the barking for long. I decided to try this as it seemed more humane than a bark collar. It worked right away! The first time she barked, she heard a noise and stopped immediately. I think the sound of the device also scared her (which made me feel nauseous) but after 3 barks she realized her barking was the cause of the noise. She has almost completely stopped barking. Every now and then she makes a soft "Wow" because the device does not pick up this quieter sound. I had no problems with other noises when turning off the device. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that I wish it had an on/off switch. To turn it off you need to remove the batteries. My dog has learned not to bark so we don't need him anymore but if he does I would have to plug and unplug batteries.
