Punches cut well. I have various dies for flowers, balloons and hearts, but when you need to create something quickly without taking out a punch and setting up a sandwich etc, these hole punches come in handy. Heart, balloon and flower are the shapes I use often, like most people. These kicks seem to be pretty versatile in terms of what they can slice. You cut thin foam, some fabric, cardboard, aluminum from soda cans, etc. You just have to experiment. If there is resistance when hitting, I stop and don't force him to hit to avoid damage. I mostly cut through flimsy foam and cardboard to keep the blades from wearing out faster, but it's good to know they can cut through other materials if needed. Cardboard.
