My search for a new camera to replace my Panasonic Lumix TZ7 took a long time. After reading through a plethora camera reviews, I decided on the Nikon Coolpix B500. With a powerful matrix of 16, and a respectable 40mm zoom, it was an easy decision to make. One thing I will say is that the seven-year-old Lumix takes superior photos and videos. I couldn't believe that a brand new modern model with upgraded specifications, and even for such a price, could deliver such horrible results when I read unfavorable reviews about similar models with ultrazooms, where they wrote the same thing. In the same lighting settings, I found that Nikon's photographs and videos had more noticeable grain and blurring than those from the other camera. On video in general, a distinct conversation: video is really important for me, since. I frequently photograph children, but this time the camera took an embarrassingly long time to lock onto the subject, kept losing focus as I got closer, the light flickered and the coarseness changed whenever I moved it, and the whole effect left me speechless. Apparently the manufacturer included the ability to record video in the camera's specifications for no reason at all. Summing up: First, it takes forever for the focus to lock in, making it impossible to take photos of moving subjects (I tried to take photos of my son without a flash; everything is blurry; out of 6 shots, only one is more or less when he sat down without moving); second, I tried zooming in, and the closer I got, the blurrier it got, with less defined edges; third, the video is terrible; and fourth, I was so dissatisfied with the device that I returned it the very My recommendation is to only purchase a camera if you or someone you know has actually used it and can attest to its quality.
