WOW, what a huge difference compared to an $80+ Xbox headset. It's MUCH better in both audio and physical quality and you do NOT need an audio adapter, but personally I prefer using the chatpad with it and it works the same way. 3.5mm standard plug. Just connect it to your controller and away you go. All audio/night chat will automatically switch to the headset unless you've logged into the console and changed settings, and you may still need it on your TV depending on what it is. Some smart TVs (like Samsung) need to switch to audio output instead of TV speakers. And most importantly, unlike the Xbox branded headphones, they do NOT force you to play a volume guessing game between the game and the group chat. Between the headphone chat bar and the console, you have 3 different ways to adjust the volume, each doing the same thing. It has an easily accessible mute switch on the headset cable and a volume control. But the easiest way to set up audio is through the Xbox One guide. The microphone part is detachable, the sound is like cinema, and you can also change the microphone sensitivity. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! I wish I hadn't wasted my money two years ago and bought a branded Xbox headset, they're cheaper too.
