Safe, comfortable and true to size

My little 8 month old Oliver had several surgeries this week some of which required stitches. The vet provided a monstrous clear plastic cone that was tied around the neck. This was good as he had little vision with him and didn't hit too many walls. It was too deep for him to eat or drink or smell weed. He could barely lift it off the ground as he tried to walk. However, Oliver is a fairly tolerant little fellow and he seemed fine with the pubic cone while I was with him. But when I left the room for the first time, he decided to tear it down. When I came back 30 minutes later he had chewed through part of the plastic and the neck hole was firmly clamped in his small jaw, cutting into his mouth. Yes, I ordered several different options for Oliver because I couldn't figure out how the different sizes of cones, collars, and donuts correlated with my dog's throat and nose. Two options (with similar size descriptions) didn't work - one was even larger than the plastic cone my vet provided. The other was so tiny it was almost cute funny. Another donut collar wouldn't inflate no matter what I did. I think the plastic inside was somehow melted together. Another cone worked fine and I keep it as a backup. But it squeezed my friend's little face (the "soft cone" turns into a kind of taco shape when you put it on) and he was just uncomfortable wearing it. This donut collar worked great right out of the box. I love how I can easily attach Oliver's own collar to the inside of the donut for a comfortable and secure fit. Slightly inflated. I appreciated the little air pump so much! He stays bloated. The cover is easy to clean. My friend falls asleep instantly with this donut, can eat, drink, fetch a ball and hold/chew a puppy treat - all of which he couldn't do with a cone. He couldn't reach the stitches in his, um, stomach at all (he was neutered). But he was smart enough to "almost" get to the seams on his ankle (the dewclaw was removed). So I made sure to monitor him, just in case. (He never raised his ankle over a donut, but he certainly tried.) Of all the devices I tried for Oliver, this was by far the best, most comfortable, most effective deterrent, and closest in size, that I expected. Highly recommended.
