Revainrating 3 out of 5

With quality control it would be 5 stars

Update 15th March 2018: I called Brightech today to sort out a couple of workmanship issues which have deducted two stars from my rating. I've summarized their responses below. I recommend you watch my video for context.1. About the knife edge on the piece of chrome that connects the lamp to the stem: The representative checked a sample of the Leaf lamp in the office and agreed with my description of the problem but said it was unlikely any changes would be made. I haven't cut myself on it yet, but I'm adjusting the tint very carefully.2. Regarding misaligned lamp sections, I received a somewhat ambiguous response as to whether this was a known or common issue, or was it just a lamp that didn't go through any of the Chinese factory inspection processes.3. About the lamp's mismatched brass finish: He sounded surprised, although my comment here wasn't the first to refer to this issue. If this lamp was clearly visible in my home I would return it in hopes of getting a lamp with brass to match. surfaces and smooth seams. Since these flaws are hidden behind the headboard - and since I suspect any replacement might have the same problems - I decided to keep it. However, let me stress, apart from these points, I like the lamp. [Original review starts below] A few weeks ago I decided it was finally time to replace the floor lamp behind my bedroom headboard and somehow the Brightech LED. A leaf lamp caught my attention. Found it here at Revain and was honestly impressed with hundreds of 5 star reviews. I liked the fact that the LED light could be scaled to three different intensity levels, but had a hard time confirming if it would match the maximum brightness level. or go beyond the 100 watt rainbow bulb I'm used to. I ended up placing an order. It cost around $60 with free shipping and arrived in good condition within a few days. I can confidently attest that assembling the device was easy and only took a few minutes. There were three sections of poles connecting the light node and base, and a power cord was pre-threaded through them. All that remained was to twist the parts together and tighten by hand. It couldn't be easier. Now let me say that overall I like this lamp. It is attractive and has a modern, minimalist and highly functional design. I was relieved to find that the 12.5W LED bulb, on the highest setting, provided enough light for reading, even with those aging eyes. I'm guessing its output is equivalent to a 100 watt rainbow lightbulb, maybe more. The adjustable metal shade means the light is fairly directional, but I found it spread enough lumens in my 13 x 16 foot bedroom to make it a fun evening. all by itself, even at the lowest settings. I would be remiss if I didn't mention a few quality control issues. First, when I attached the pole pieces together, the seams weren't entirely even or smooth. And the brass finish, particularly on one of the rods, really didn't match the rest. It would be more annoying if I put the lamp outside, but I don't. It is almost entirely behind a soft headboard where these anomalies are not visible. There is one more thing that caught my attention. The chrome part that connects the lampshade and the horizontal arm has a very sharp edge. I didn't actually cut myself adjusting the lamp, but the risk seems real. You really need to fix this problem. I'm considering getting another one of these living room lamps and I hope it will be faultless. If not, the company says they stand behind their products, so I think I can return it, probably with free shipping. Therefore, for the time being, I give my LED leaf lamp three stars out of five. It has many merits and if I order again I expect to get one that passes Brightech's test - and mine.
