My wife is in last Time obsessed with flameless candles. Aside from the obvious safety benefit of not using a real fire, having them on a timer is a lot more convenient than manually lighting a real candle every day, especially if you have several of these candles around the house. And they really create a nice atmosphere in the room. One branded product worth noting is the Luminara, a pretty good product but it's quite expensive - you probably can't even buy a single Luminara for the price of this trio. In the attached video, the very tall candle at the back (no string of lights around it) is the Luminara for comparison. I don't know how well it shows up in the video, but the Luminara's flames are brighter and we also think the movement looks more natural (less than just going back and forth). Luminara also features a partially used candle's concave tip, angled in a way that encourages you to look at the flame from the front, which is a plus since (for both Luminara and the product on this list) the Flame not so bright is the back. While the Luminara has a three-position switch (on/off/timer) on the bottom that lets you put it into five-hour timer mode, the product on this list requires you to use the included remote control, to turn it on the timer (which means you won't lose the remote and have to replace the internal battery if it eventually dies). Your time duration options are 2, 4, 6, and 8 hours per day. (On Luminara, when you get your remote, the options are 4, 6, 8, and 10 instead). real candles don't work that way), but the view is pleasant in its own way. Note that there is a brightness control on the remote that I'm pretty sure only adjusts the lights and not the top flame. At the highest setting (default) they are brighter than flames and you can dim them. However, you cannot turn them off completely. Although both products are considered fragrance-free, Luminara has a more pleasant waxy smell. It seemed that one of the three candles worked on a timer at some point - at first it turned on and after a while it turned off. Time during the day and later just stay forever. I used the remote to turn the timer back on and so far it has worked but now another triggers. While the equivalent Luminara typically uses two C or D batteries, they run on a pair of AA so it's basically inevitable that you'll need to change batteries more often, which I find impractical, but if you only normally use AA batteries have at home, you may not need to buy other types of batteries. There are also products that are sort of a dummy battery with a cord to the power adapter if you want to use an outlet and never worry about dead batteries again - and they usually come in that AA size, but not so much in of size C or D (although it is comfortable enough for you, there are DIY solutions). So this may influence your choice of Luminara. All in all it's good value for money and if it weren't for the timer misbehavior it could hardly deserve a fourth star. But if you want the best and are willing to pay for it, then Luminara is probably your best option.
