This lamp is very durable! Looks very well built, doesn't get hot but has thermal fins to dissipate heat for extended use and is very bright for its small size. I use it on a kids kart and just plug it into a small 35Ah battery on. It works amazing. It should be noted that the wiring harness provided with the kit is universal for all size light bars and includes a relay. I think if you were going to use a giant light strip or maybe a couple of small strips connected to a switch (multiple strip connector is also included in the harness) you might need a relay. But this little light bar only draws about 7 amps or so (measured on my multimeter and as far as I remember). So you don't need this relay at all for just one bar. I cut out mine as well as the bracket for the extra light bars and cut out about half of the wiring harness. I also swapped out the switch that came with it. The factory switch is cool and everything, lights etc but it was easy to press the rocker style. It's easy to turn on accidentally and unnoticed during the day, so it easily drains the battery. Instead I set the red switch to 15 amps. You have to turn on the light on purpose and the kids think the guarded switch is cool, just like in the movies.
