I bought these because my dog's paws were irritated after taking him to the beach for the first time. The sand and pavement were very hot and after spending several days on the beach her paws were red, cracked and irritated. I had to treat her paws every day and bought these shoes to keep her paws clean during our daily post treatment walks. They definitely served their purpose! I'm just saying that you must close your shoes tightly or they will slip off. I also plan to use them next time we go to the beach so their paws don't get irritated by the hot sand/sidewalk again. For reference, my dog is medium sized and weighs about 24 pounds and we bought her a size 3. (The attached photo is just a guide.)
