This scoop is advertised as being 8 inches in length. Since purchasing I have found that my hand size does not fit well in the top of a coffee bag and this scoop had to do just that to get the coffee to the bottom of the bag. Alternatively, I could fold the coffee bag into a fold, which always throws out some coffee grounds, or, as I found, rip the bag open and spill the coffee all over the place. Knocking over the bag and trying to shake the coffee so I could reach it was also unsuccessful. My next step was to gradually shorten the bag as the coffee level dropped and to close it with a clip on the side. I ended up getting tired of messing with all of this and I bought an 11 inch long spoon even though it only had two tablespoons on one end. The long length allows me to scoop coffee right off the bottom of the bag without drama. You can also do this if you have large hands and want to use a spoon to measure the coffee from the bottom of the resealable bag. This shorter scoop gets three stars because it's probably quite handy for less demanding types of measurements, and might even work for bagged coffee if your hands are small enough to easily fit in a pocket. The shovel is beautifully finished and I would rate the build quality as excellent. Too bad it's not 3 cm longer.
