Review on BIOS Circadian Equivalent Spectrum Alertness by Brian Sobirov

Adequate day/night dimmer but not ideal for dimming

My dimmer is a Control4 Gen-3 adaptive phase dimmer. The foreground lightbulb is the BIOS, the background lightbulb is an inexpensive warm-dim LED lightbulb. My dimmer is set to turn on for 2 seconds or 5 seconds when pressed and held. The BIOS has a noticeable jump from off to orange and a somewhat rough transition to daylight white. I like both colors. Orange is warm and soothing, while white matches the advertised color temperature. There's also a sharp transition from daylight to orange with a smooth decay, as well as a distinct highlight and no dimming until it turns off. In the video you can see how the lamp switches to certain percentages and a slight change in brightness from 30% to 1%, which if you don't bother with dimming, can bring a small energy saving. However, the bulb does not light up at 1%. I would use this bulb in any public space where you want circadian lighting. I would use them in the kitchen, hallway or dressing room. I would not use these lamps if you want full dimming for more romantic candle effects such as B. in a theater, a library or a TV room. the desired level depending on the time of day. For example, for this lamp I would set 80% to 100% for daylight when you need daylight hours and 25% for evening and night hours. If you want total blackout, look elsewhere. The price of the lamp is high because it does not support dimming and smooth ramping. The other bulbs you see in the video are much cheaper, and while the cheaper bulbs don't provide the daylight color that the BIOS suggests, they may be a better fit. Finally, try warm, dim, and circadian lights with your gear and for the environment and atmosphere you want. You can spend less and much more on dimmable circadian bulbs than BIOS. Five stars require smooth dimming and smooth changes in brightness. On/off switching and a smooth transition of color temperatures at a good price.
