Review on πŸ“‘ Enhance TV Signal Quality with GE 4-Way Antenna Amplifier Splitter for Clear & Pixel-Free Viewing on Multiple TVs by Jeff Pettis

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Two GE 4-Way VHF/UHF Amplifier/Splitters: Didn't work for me.

Ordered this 4 way amp splitter from GE, found it bad, then ordered a replacement and got exactly the same result. Example 1: No splitter, 75 Ohm individual termination, good picture, no pixelation, all channels. Test case 2: Passive 4-way splitter only (no amplifier installed), several weak signal channels not detected (lost). Signal loss >6 dB expected. Otherwise the picture quality is normal. Test case 3: Installed a new GE amplifier splitter (three connectors terminated with 75 ohms, fourth output to TV). The result is a complete loss of signal on all output ports for both the 1st amp and the spare. Make sure the power LED on the amplifier is lit. It is not to be expected that both amplifiers fail, but it is possible. If so, that doesn't bode well for the amp or its reliability. Finally, I installed a very old 4-way Archer/Radio Shack amp/splitter from a trash can that may not cover the entire UHF band, but worked great for channels in our area. the 2nd amp returned there as well.
