Review on Tripp Lite Inverter Compact PV150 by Mikey Shook

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Compact, good quality

This rating refers to the 150W red model. I was looking for a good silent inverter to charge my laptop in the car and it worked great. The fuse is easy to replace if it blows, and this model has no fan, making it quiet. The case is metal and acts like a large heat sink, so you'll need to make sure it doesn't grab your glove box or whatever while you're using it. However, it does not get very hot, so you can put it on carpet without any problems. This model switches off when the battery is severely discharged (e.g. when starting the engine). So expect a high-pitched squeak once you've plugged it in and turned it on when this happens. Just toggle the switch on and off to turn the device back on. All in all this is a great low power solution for charging your small laptop or iPad at 12V.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Reliability
