Fanless, quiet and lasts forever

This review is for the PV150 (not the PV150USB which has a fan). I have about 4 of these devices and have never had any problems with them. One of them is in continuous operation and has been working properly for about 4 years. These things are housed in a single piece of aluminum duct and there are no fans to suck in debris, bag, wear out, or annoy you with every use. I haven't seen anything close to this design on the market. Yes, it's only 150 watts, but it's enough for most applications! If

Compact, good quality

This rating refers to the 150W red model. I was looking for a good silent inverter to charge my laptop in the car and it worked great. The fuse is easy to replace if it blows, and this model has no fan, making it quiet. The case is metal and acts like a large heat sink, so you'll need to make sure it doesn't grab your glove box or whatever while you're using it. However, it does not get very hot, so you can put it on carpet without any problems. This model switches off when the battery is…

Laptop in my car

I need this for an IBM ThinkPad T61p that I use in my cars for setup and diagnostics. I've tried a few others without much luck. I don't know if it's just me or if it's a ThinkPad thing, but ThinkPad seems to be picky when it comes to inverters. A 450w inverter I tried turned off immediately as soon as I turned on the laptop. Strange. Anyway it works fine. I bought it based on many recommendations from the ThinkPad forums. I'm using the 90w ThinkPad brick my T61p came with and haven't had any…

150 quiet watts from this fanless box. Stable and cool move.

Complete silence so I bought this. No fan. So nice to travel without the annoying fan like my previous inverter. I use it for a 15.6" laptop with relatively low power consumption and to charge portable devices like gaming handhelds, tablets and phones, so I don't have to use DC chargers. Note that the 300W unit has a fan, according to other reviewers. I received a 150W unit without a fan. Nice and calm. Barely heats up with a 15.6-inch dual-core laptop, playing movies, charging 2 phones…

Works as expected with the TV

I've only tested this for a day so I'll update the review if it goes bad. After extensive research to replace a noisy 400 watt inverter to power just a 24" LED TV (Sams***) in our caravan. I chose to do this for a number of reasons. First, because the TV only consumes 39W, and the inverter came with a 12V cigarette lighter (which can only handle about 180W without direct connection to the battery), two, good reviews, three, no fan, four, this is one of them only a few in this 150W range have an

Defective after 14 months

Edited 9/23/12: This unit was purchased 14 months ago and initially worked fine, powering my 60 watt laptop regularly while I was in the car. It has probably been used less than 50 hours and has never been abused. It dropped out during use this afternoon, emitting a faint high-pitched whirring sound and no longer supports a 60W load. Luckily I had a spare 75-watt unit from another manufacturer and was able to complete the trip with it. This would be a very difficult work situation as I am on…

I now have 3 PV 150 inverters. Everything is fine.

Beautiful unit, not cheap. I will look at this brand when I buy a larger inverter. I have 2 now, both work fine. The second is connected directly to the power terminal (with a fuse, of course). I use it daily. The first is a battery powered UPS system that is always on when I need it. Now I have 3 PV150 inverters. 1 is hardwired to the UPS system, 1 is hardwired to my truck's cab and the last one I bought is for use in other vehicles. Everything is still fine. The one in my truck is used daily.

The best inverter I've ever had!

Bought to replace another manufacturer's 400 watt model. This old inverter was great but noisy with its fan. I needed something smaller, thinner and most importantly quieter. This Tripp Lite inverter is everything and more. To date I have only had one hassle free service when using it in a Crown Victoria with a dedicated factory installed cigar lighter socket. I have charged my Lenovo Thinkpad several times and always get good readings from the battery management software. I use the Tripp Lite…
