Review on Tripp Lite Inverter Compact PV150 by Marcus Block

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Defective after 14 months

Edited 9/23/12: This unit was purchased 14 months ago and initially worked fine, powering my 60 watt laptop regularly while I was in the car. It has probably been used less than 50 hours and has never been abused. It dropped out during use this afternoon, emitting a faint high-pitched whirring sound and no longer supports a 60W load. Luckily I had a spare 75-watt unit from another manufacturer and was able to complete the trip with it. This would be a very difficult work situation as I am on call and need instant internet access. Below is a first review: This inverter works well and will be used for my work laptop while I am on duty and don't want to be tied to the house. At 75 watts it gets very warm, almost hot, but the instructions say it can get up to 130-140 degrees, so that's probably fine. I like the size and the aluminum body for heat transfer. 150W is the maximum power that most car sockets can support. It would have been nice to have two outlets instead of one, as well as a USB power port. But this inverter has important elements for me and was the best match for Revain for my needs.
