The ball is soft but firm enough to feel like a massage. The spikes are soft enough not to hurt sensitive skin. The ball works well in small areas where the roller doesn't work. I place a cloth between the ball and the skin to reduce some discomfort if the area is sensitive. I use it for ISG pain and after 10-15 minutes there is noticeable pain relief and an increase in mobility.
