I bought them a size up for someone else. The pants I bought were big and later I bought another pair in size XL. Both fit, one is a little tighter than the other at the buttocks - it's just a matter of personal comfort, IF you're not wearing them to yoga then take them a little more because the fabric won't stand up to the strain. These are excellent pants that are very comfortable even in the southern heat. They protect my skin from the sun but don't cause overheating. Handle with care! Do not put them in the washing machine, even in the "hand wash" mode, and do not wash them with other clothes. Hand wash with a little mild detergent.
