Review on Upgrade Your Hauck Wooden Highchair: Hauck Alpha Tray With 5-Point Harness And Depth Adjustable Table, Perfect 3 In 1 Table Set For Your Growing Baby by Harry Ashcraft

Good purchase if done early

This is clearly inspired by the Stokke seat, but with a less hip design sensibility and a lower price. It is also less adjustable at the lower half. There assembly instructions were clear enough but could have been a little better about the seat board and foot board. The manual alone indicates that the shallower board is the seat, which is uncomfortable for ages 6 and up. But in the product photos, it appears that the larger board can be used as the seat at later stages, without a second foot board (the bottom rung in the frame can be a foot rest for shorter legs). It hasn’t been as good a fit as I’d hoped for my 7 year old, although it does place him at a slightly better height relative to the table. Not much of a difference, though, and not comfortable enough for him to benefit from the foot support.Based on the manual, you have to loosen the entire frame before adjusting the boards and re-tightening the screws. This isn’t clear from the product video but it makes sense.I think this is a decent long term pick from 12-18 months. But for kindergartners and older, one of the junior chairs from Ikea, for example, is a more cost effective solution. And while it may be able of holding an adult, it’s not the most comfortable seat, as there’s minimal back support. It is very sturdy and the wide base makes it less likely to tip over.

Pros
  • This is nice and sturdy and works for all of our children.
Cons
  • The price of the Hauck Alpha Tray may be too high for some consumers
