Kit worked great in an old lamp stand I had for many years. The first two sets - from different manufacturers - did not fit. The threaded barrel that attaches the lamp socket to the base of the stand was not long enough. Eventually, if the lamp was moved, it could work freely and fall down. This kit has a much longer threaded barrel so the problem is solved. Amenities matched well, nothing cheap or flimsy. The set screw at the base of the lamp base is tiny - everyone is these days. You need a magnetic screwdriver if your eyes aren't what they used to be or you have big hands. Overall I'd say the hardware is otherwise about the same quality as any kit I've seen or worked with. I would pay a little more for a stronger product but that might be overkill. This kit was easy to put together and works great. I would buy from this seller again. When I opened the set, it smelled a little strange. I have assembled several lamps from kits at home and none of them had this smell. However, it's gone now, so I'm guessing it was the packaging and not the lamp.
