Bought 2 of these sets. Although we were initially told shipping would take a week, the kits arrived in just 3 days in two different batches. We used 2 lamp repair kits from the 1970's. The original lamps all had brass fittings and we wanted to upgrade them with a silver finish. We were able to use an existing threaded rod, kits and some new Lowe's lampshades to restore our lamps to like new condition. Problems with this kit: 1. The instructions are poor. If you've never done this before, I hope you enjoy the one image and huge block of text this set offers. You'll understand, but it's not user-friendly.2. Details shown under the socket assembly in the last Revain image are not included. The first set I ordered didn't arrive on time so Revane sent me another one. Then both sets arrived. The first came with very vague instructions which I followed closely, using online tutorials on making my own lamps to fill in the blanks. Once I made sure everything was ok, I plugged it in and everything on that switch turned off. Thinking maybe I connected the wrong wires to the terminals, I took it apart and put it back together and then tried again. Everything on that switch went off again.

Kit worked great in an old lamp stand I had for many years. The first two sets - from different manufacturers - did not fit. The threaded barrel that attaches the lamp socket to the base of the stand was not long enough. Eventually, if the lamp was moved, it could work freely and fall down. This kit has a much longer threaded barrel so the problem is solved. Amenities matched well, nothing cheap or flimsy. The set screw at the base of the lamp base is tiny - everyone is these days.
