Review on Mirkit USB FTDI Programming Cable Model 3 Black For Flashing Analogue Ham Radio: Baofeng by Aaron Ward

Revainrating 5 out of 5

worked great with imac

The cable is well made, I have the model 3 and it has a cloth sleeve, it's quite flexible, no quality issues or anything. So I spent a lot of time reading about which cable to buy with many different reviews as to whether it would work, FTDI chip issues, driver issues etc etc. I ended up having a good experience with this cable. I was using my late 2009 Imac with High Sierra 10.13.6. I took the time to read the Mirkit information download link that was emailed, as well as the information on the Chirp website for this SW setup. So I first just plugged the USB end of the cable into my Mac and made sure my Mac recognizes it and it's not a problem. I then installed CHIRP SW by following the instructions on the Chirp website and focusing on Apple's security when installing apps and it worked great for me. Finally, I connected the Boa Feng GT-5R according to Mirkit's manual and read the radio configuration from the radio itself. Then I read in the included Mirkit image file of the station list and uploaded it to the radio. Everything worked very smoothly for me. I expected it to be a lot more painful, to be perfectly honest. So I'm glad I bought this cable. I hope this information is useful for someone who has similar devices.
