Review on Thule 3203788 Spira Backpack Black by Kyle Miller

Revainrating 5 out of 5

elegant and compact, great design and finish, typical Thule

I've had some great Thule products, mainly for cycling (sometimes I've also used them for hiking, but mostly on bikes). They have always surprised us with the design of their products and high build quality, and when I noticed that they also sell backpacks I decided to give it a try. Another great product from Thule, not your typical straight backpack design but still an elegant and very effective design. The quality of the fabric is quite good, it is dense and somewhat water-repellent. Not thin at all. Inside, solid lines and all touch points are covered with thick leather (it looks like real leather). There seems to be some kind of metal foot on the bottom of the backpack, which makes it easier to stand and increases stability. Overall it seems very durable and you can safely wear it at the airport or train station. It's very comfortable and its large, padded, adjustable shoulder straps make it easy to walk with it for long periods of time. I've been trying for up to 3 hours with no problems. It's not the biggest backpack you've ever seen, and it's not even above average. I would rate it as an average medium sized backpack. So if you're looking for something big, this isn't it. It has separate storage for a 13" laptop (Thule says 13" but I tested it and 14" is easily doable) and a 10" tablet on the back which is quilted and padded. Both are very safe and access is very convenient. Inside there are several more zippers and pockets. Features two slip pockets, a structured document compartment with compartments and another zip pocket. There is also a small zipper on the front. Just organize the things you carry with you. There is also a pass-through plate that you can use to connect it to your carry-on or check-in luggage if needed. Facilitates walking at the airport in connection with hand luggage. All in all, highly recommended if you are looking for a medium-sized backpack as an additional piece of luggage. Don't count on replacing your hand luggage as it's not big enough but can be a very nice addition. They are easier to move around airports but overall it is a very durable good quality backpack. Typical reliable Thule product.
