Not suitable for retrofit It is best to use recessed lights
These lights. The back of the panel, which should fit directly into the 8" hole, closer to the 7" flange, which should be on the outside of the hole holding the panel in place, measures about 7 7/8 ". So if this is the case on a new install where you cut a hole they will work fine, but if you have already cut an 8" hole be careful it won't work.
