The old fan was held in place by the black push pins shown above the screw pack in the photo. The old fan was rubbing against the unit's case, so I reinstalled it with screws (I used nail polish to keep the nuts from loosening) and a grille. We hope this keeps the blades clean. A fan installed and working. Turned on several times when the battery was leveled at 16 volts at 50 amps. Noise is not exaggerated. Some reviews mention the lack of roller bearing fans. Both of my bearings were roller bearings as shown in the picture. I will update this review if they fail prematurely.
