I commute to work by bike and although my bag has a laptop compartment, I chose this lightweight hard case after needing to replace my laptop. (The built-in case meant my laptop could easily open up during transit and damage the computer.) It's great - not heavy and fits my very thin laptop plus a few sheets of paper. I even started using it to carry things to meetings indoors. It's very simple and minimal, but it's exactly what I wanted.
