I had many problems with this until I researched online to find out I could break the skin with oil (I used olive oil from the kitchen). I did a few rounds and let it soak in completely. Then there was still compound bonding issues so I applied a heat gun to the skin and compound and it covered well after that. Before doing all of this, I struggled to apply a compound to the skin, and then it stuck to weird patches that were thick in some places and absent in others. This isn't the first sling I've used for my linocut tools so I assumed the process would be the same as the previous one, but I think the smoother skin required additional steps. I've posted before and after photos left to right.
