UV-5R 8W Dual Band VHF UHF w/FM Complete with Accessories/Add-Ons

Updated 01 January 2021: ---------------- -- ---Ok, got a replacement and everything was as expected, great service from Revain etc. However this one was packaged differently, completely re-uploaded another Baofeng "dba" with labels literally pasted on top of each other. I have no problem with it, BTech, Greaval, Baofeng, Profung etc. I don't understand but it's not my problem. However, even in this case the box as delivered banged hard on the far corner where the radio is and played the accordion a bit; The plastic tray holding the radio was damaged, but everything else "looked" fine. However, the microphone does not work again. This time the button seemed fine, it just didn't work. He turned on the radio when the plug was in, "transmitted" until he sat down, and then - nothing, no speaker, no microphone. ^] Arrow didn't always work. It took a few clicks and is difficult to activate. Down [v] was perfect, crisp and immediate. So, when I wanted to return this one - ready to try again or apply for credit to Revain to request a replacement immediately - no; just back and forth to the original payment method. It just suits me. And I think I leave a lot of room for problems, "bad luck" when I'm playing a mass product; but it's new and not really any cheaper than any other model - it just came with all the accessories (which looks smaller than a radio, so sketchy in such a kit, IMO). Not sure how much more +3w vs 5w that 8w is efficient in terms of value or "needs". If I dig deeper every day, maybe it's not a 63% increase in transmit power, but throughput and a noisy signal. (8W out of 5W is 63%) I understand the difference. Now the 5w versions are even more attractive to buy and can have two for the price of this one and yet none of the accessories are usable or functional as expected. So, as a "newbie" to this field - this makes it easy to navigate and easy to note down my review process and context. If I were (and will be) an FCC licensed operator and could fully test it and compare it to experience, I would describe it in detail. one or 1 of each to be used for emergency communications to prepare for a Katrina or 911 event when all communications systems are disabled. I hope this helps someone. ============= . the same quality at a different price than the kit, what is the value; However, it reasonably looks like a good way to make an initial purchase during this time. The OEM box made a solid 'shot', with a bell-shaped end - then boxed and arrived in an untouched outer box - but it made me look at the contents like a 'puppy with a coconut', as far as I knew what i watched And as luck would have it, the attached 'handset' mic looked very cheap/cheap, and in fact the 'button' was broken. So everyone must have applauded it. Otherwise I wouldn't know - I definitely wouldn't press PTT. - Otherwise everything seems to be of pretty good quality in general. I don't have a chance to check the specs/ratings - but there seems to be a lot of people who have. So I used Revain's usual excellent exchange service and will probably get a replacement today. Proceeding further, I will if I have anything substantial to add. But again - there seems to be a lot of highly qualified people who have tested all this and can do it. (Yes, I work with Technician FCC Lic., and also as "Preparer", but am learning HF etc., SSB as allowed, free bands - there so many frequencies are lost there later should a basis for "basic" initial TSTF call/contact counts. For me the only reason to do this. But who knows, after getting a license there seems to be a way to do something else - again.)
