This backpack has everything I was looking for. There are 3 zippered compartments: main, front and small back compartment. It's smaller than the average school backpack, but larger than most "fashion" backpacks sold in clothing stores today. It's AMAZING spacious inside. If I leave the side buttons undone, 3 notepads, a large pencil case, a wallet, a small make-up bag and a mini speaker fit in - and I can still zip them up. And it still fits in those little square lockers at work/school/gym. Didn't fit in my MacBook because of the height, but I'm not complaining at all. Yes, there is a smell - I would like to say that it resembles the chemical smell of naphthalene (?), but it disappears. disappeared after a few days and didn't bother me much. Best features: adjustable strap, double closure on the main compartment (zip + magnetic closure). sewn tightly together so that it limits the opening to a certain extent. Still, I love this bag!
