burning strange. broken chimney

the chimney worked for several days, then when it was turned on it started to smell like burning and then the electrical switch just turned off. Then he tried another switch and the chimney started having a stronger weird effect and the switch just pushed it back. So I'm through the box it came in, I'm older and disabled and don't have a fireplace, but at least I'm here to talk about it. and no one was hurt. I'm hoping for some kind of compensation.
