As per code, mandatory for wet areas such as over bath, shower or outdoors. What's really nice is that it sticks out from under the ceiling, so it emits light better than a flat glass lens. I thought it would look weird with the other ceiling lights in the bathroom but it looks nice. I have the 60 watt equivalent of a spiral fluorescent bulb (Sylvania seems to have the best color) and the light output is more than adequate. It's an expensive goblin, but worth every penny.
