Style wise I really like the lamp. It reminds me of a street lamp from the 1920s. Took about five minutes to set up, looks great. The problem lies in the transparent glass of the lampshade. With the light on, the vintage style bulb looks so cool that you look at it. With no real shading to block out the light, your eyes will hurt after a few minutes. It's almost impossible not to stare into the light because the exposed filament is so strange and unique that it catches the eye. This is a high quality and very functional lamp but I would recommend placing it at a distance where you are unlikely to be looking at it. Don't leave it on your desktop, it could be in a corner somewhere, or I guarantee your eyes will be pounding from staring in a few minutes. Update: The company contacted me and we discussed ways to improve the product. I was very impressed that they listened to my feedback. I used the loan I got to buy a new lampshade and lightbulb. This greatly improved the lamp and its usability. She no longer dazzles. I've also recommended that the company place future orders for lower-wattage LED bulbs, which they say they'll be looking into. Great work by the company to make the customer happy and improve their product.
