When I first started using it I thought it wouldn't be cheaper to use my own disposable towels in the long run. I think it depends on how often you use them. I think the real benefit of using them is twofold: Using a chemical modification to create sanitizing water appears to be more sustainable than packing each bag with store-bought tissues. Second, you know exactly what is happening to them. I'm not saying that wipes manufacturers are less transparent when it comes to telling you what's in the wetting agent, but whenever I see wipes' expiration dates, I wonder if any of that has a chance of mold or anything is. As a germ phobia I love the idea of homemade wipes because I know exactly what they contain. If it's important to you too, I think it's a good investment.
