Items get stuck on the side after cutting

This is a very well made Japanese knife but due to the very smooth surface, items will always get stuck on the side after cutting. Basically, when you cut carrots, cucumbers or other hard vegetables that contain enough moisture, they will get stuck on the side after cutting and you have to move them down each time. For me it's kind of awkward and slows you down a lot. But otherwise it is a very high quality and well made knife.
