Soft carrier bags are not ideal

I have been looking for the 'perfect bag' for my dog for three months and thought this would be it. Most don't have pockets (or at least not enough pockets), and I'm tired of carrying both a doggie bag and a purse. I love the look and functionality of the bag and it's almost awesome. There are pockets everywhere and they're actually big enough to hold my two large iPhones (work and personal), my large wallet, keys/keychain, leash, water bottle, dinner plate, etc. Another plus is the straps are long enough to comfortably and easily slip over your shoulder and stay in place. It's also very cute (in my opinion) and looks like a handbag, which is what I'm looking for. It would be nice if the side could be zipped open to allow for ventilation if you want, but that doesn't bother when the liner comes out. One problem for me is that the insert doesn't really hold its shape. I've added a photo so you can see. It does not hold the body shape shown in the promotional photos. He wants to close himself off. The material used for the frame is not stiff enough to prevent this. The frame should be formed from something rigid that won't break if you put it on your shoulder and carry it in your work bag, backpack or whatever. Since I take my dog with me almost everywhere, I wear them most of the time and then some. If I stow everything on my shoulder or in my seat, I don't want to worry about his bag collapsing on him or crushing him when I put my hand on the bag or stack it with my purchases on the seat. I could live with that as most dog bags I've tried are pretty soft, so I think that's a common trait in dog bags. What's a deal breaker for me is that it's too short. My chihuahua weighs four pounds. It's small even for a Chihuahua. He can't stand in the pocket. I took photos for reference. I can't carry it around for hours in a bag it can't stand in. It's not too short. It's a few inches shorter. I understand you might want to slide it under an airplane seat, but unless my very small, very small dog can stand in it, I can't imagine putting a larger or larger dog in there without feeling like I could offend . you. My dog is 8 months old and I don't trust him yet to keep in the bag until it's open in case something interesting happens. I need to be able to put him in a ziplock bag and leave him there for an hour or two so he can watch and hang out without letting him run around. I wouldn't do that with this bag because it can't stand it. I've included photos so you can see how far it sticks out from the top. Unfortunately I will be returning this one which I hate because I love the pockets, webbing and style. But because of growth problems I can't carry him around in good conscience. It would be nice if they offered a larger size option and a more structured frame that really holds its shape.
