They work great and are a lot cheaper than store bought ones.

Inexpensive cables. long length Not much to check. Have a couple of phones that are constantly used and abused at work (the owner's counter and display line in the kitchen of a busy restaurant) that require the cords to be replaced due to the resulting static noise when unplugged. They work great and are a lot cheaper than the ones you buy at your local office supply store.
