I had a cheap quilting foot that I set up on the go to learn how to quilt with free motion. The modification I made didn't allow the foot to move up and down, it just slid across the quilts. This one I didn't modify in the same way, and the shiny chrome leg that moves up and down drove me crazy. The bright light from the sewing machine gave me a headache. So I bought a clear matte nail polish and painted my leg to make it matte. VERY helped. The manufacturer should provide a matte surface. Also, the foot is very well made with all the metal details and a wide open toe so you can see your work.
